Scheme under which benefitted – LVY
Ms Vasala G. had skill of tailoring. She heard about the Laghu Vyavasay Yojana (LVY) from a government official and applied for loan to start a business. She was sanctioned a loan amount of Rs. 1,00,000/- in 2014 by KSWDC and that helped her to start tailoring business.
From the tailoring business, she is now able to earn Rs. 7,000/- per month, and contributing more than Rs. 4,000/- on monthly family expenditure. The consumption pattern in her household has been changed gradually with the increase in income and savings. Also, she had bought a washing machine out of her savings. She has to repay the loan in three years, and has regularly paid 12 monthly installments @ Rs. 2,777/- per installment.
Through her loan, she now understands her business more, knows how to make a profit and how to spend that profit to change her life and break the chain of poverty. Now, Ms. Vasala says, “life is good, I am comfortable. I am able to buy things for my household. Now we have better food. My children’s education has been improved. I can now feed my family well. It gives me hope for the future”.
Sunil Kumar
Scheme under which benefitted – Term Loan
Shri Sunil Kumar from Bandal Post, Nauhardhar- Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, 27 years old belongs to very economically backward class. He has to support himself and his family with meager income and hence the basic needs of life i.e. food, clothing and shelter was out of reach of Shri Sunil Kumar. Sh. Sunil Kumar was unemployed and finding it hard to manage his family. He heard about the term loan scheme of NSFDC from his friend.
He applied and received a term loan amount of Rs. 3,50,000/- in 2009 that enabled him to start steel shuttering business. His annual income increased from Rs 35,000/- to Rs 90,000/-. The loan repayment period of five years was allotted to him. He paid 47 installments @ Rs. 6,500/- per installment and ther are only 13 installments due.
He took up the steel shuttering work in stipulated time limit and that helped his business to move forward. His income has gradually increased and there have been positive changes in monthly expenditure pattern of his family. He is now able to spend more money on medical care, education for his family.
Sukho Devi
Scheme under which benefitted – MSY
Ms Sukho Devi always dreamt of being a self-employed and independent. She learnt from her friend about HPSCSTDC providing loan under NSFDC schemes. She grabbed the opportunity to start her own dairy farm. She applied for a loan of Rs 30,000/- in 2009 and it was sanctioned. The grant of loan through HPSCSTDC enabled her to start dairy farming and her family annual household earning has increased six-fold. Before getting loan, her annual family income was only Rs.12,000/- and that has been increased to Rs.75,000/- now. The loan repayment period of three years was allotted to her. She has paid 31 installments @ Rs. 950/- per installment and there are only 5 installments due.
“It gives me joy to see my children now; they eat well and even have enough to share with their teachers and friends. Even though I could not continue my education after matriculation, my desire is that through this dairy business my children can learn up to university – that’s what I tell them and I know they can do it. The children feel good about our life now. They are proud that we have a dairy farming. I hear them tell their friends. To tell you the truth, NSFDC’s MSY loan has lifted us.” Says Ms Sukho Devi.

Soniben Patel
Scheme under which benefitted – MSY
Ms Soniben Patel, aged 47 years, was unemployed and there was no permanent source of income in her family. There were six members in her family living in a semi-pucca house without basic amenities like toilet, drinking water and electricity. The total annual income of her family was only Rs. 13,000/- which was insufficient to meet the growing expenses of her family.
She came to know about Mahila Samriddhi Yojana (MSY) of NSFDC from her friend in 2010. She filled in the loan application form and submitted to the district office of SCA. A loan amount of Rs 30,000/- was sanctioned from SCA under NSFDC’s MSY scheme.
She started dairy farming that generated a total annual income of Rs. 47,000/-. There is a significant increase in her family expenditure towards food, medicines, and education. She was repaying loan regularly in monthly installments at the District office of SCA. Earlier, she was unemployed and now she is self-employed and plans to expand her dairy farming business. She is able to market her dairy products within the district. With the profits she makes from this, she will continue to support her business to grow. She has paid all the 36 installments @ Rs. 1,055/- per installment.
Shishir Das
Scheme under which benefitted (TL)
Shri Shishir Das, S/o M. N. Das, aged 27 years, was unemployed but married before five years. He was living in a semi-pucca house with four family members. He had no access to basic amenities like toilet, drinking water etc. Earlier, he was only able to spend Rs. 3,000/- per month.
He met a government official in 2011 who suggested him to apply for term loan scheme. In 2011. His loan application was sanctioned and got the loan under term loan scheme of NSFDC. With the loan amount he started transport business by purchasing a taxi.
The annual income generated from running his taxi is Rs. 1,21,000/-. On receiving loan, he is able to spend more on food, housing, clothing, education and other key items. He is now able to spend Rs. 8,300/- per month, and can save money from the earnings. In last five years, he has also bought ceiling fan, TV, refrigerator, washing machine and a two-wheeler. He was supposed to repay the loan in three years. He was repaying his loan instalments regularly, but after repayment of four installments @ Rs. 3,333/- per installment, his loan was waived off by the government. Being successful in the business, he now plans to expand his transport business.
