About NCSK
The National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) was constituted on 12th August, 1994 as a statutory body by an Act of Parliament viz. ‘National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Act, 1993’, for a period of three years i.e. up to 31st March, 1997.
An Act to provide for the prohibition of employment as manual scavengers, rehabilitation of manual scavengers and their families, etc.
Suo Motu cognizance taken by the Commission in the cases of reported sewer deaths to make compensation payment as per Hon’ble Supreme Court Judgement 2014.
