About the Commission
The Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC) was constituted on February 21, 2019, to address the unique needs of marginalized communities in India. Historically, these communities faced exclusion and marginalization, including being labeled under the Criminal Tribes Act of 1871. Following the repeal of this Act, DWBDNC continues the government’s efforts towards their rehabilitation and empowerment. We focus on addressing the challenges faced by these communities. Our mission is to provide support and services, promoting social and economic empowerment, and ensuring these communities receive the support they deserve.
Leadership & Organisation
The Commission comprises a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and other Members supported by a Secretariat and specialised wings (Service Safeguards, Development & Welfare, Investigation & Grievance).
